PVA Glue Slime

Very sticky.

PVA and Borax

Serving Size:
About 4 Gallon
Time:
30 min-1 hour
Difficulty:
Med
Cleanup:
Easy

Ingredients

  • 1 Part PVA based Glue, such as Elmer’s
  • 2-3 Parts Water
  • 8% borax solution
  • paint or pigment to color

Directions

  1. Make an 8% borax solution, I usually do this by the liter, so 1 liter of water and 80g of borax. Mix over heat. You may need more than 1L depending on how much slime you are making. I normally do about 15-20L of slime at once and it needs somewhere between 1-1.5L of borax.
  2. Mix 1 part glue with about 2 parts of water and the coloring until it looks the way you want it to. Make sure it is mixed completely. You can change the amount of water to glue if you wish to, 1 to 1 will make the slime thick like Gak, and anything more than 4 to 1 will be too thin to polymerize.
  3. Slowly add the borax drip by drip, and keep mixing (with hands work best) until it is consistent; when everything polymerizes it will happen pretty quickly. You will be feeling it slowly thicken then it will all be slime, this is why it is so important to mix slowly. If it is too thick you can add more water, but do it slowly, it will take a while to mix more water in.
  4. After it is the consistency you like it is ready to use, I have never had an issue with clear, it washes up with water.

PVA and Liquid Starch

Serving Size:
As much as you want
Time:
30 Minutes
Difficulty:
Easy to Med
Cleanup:
Easy, needs a lot of water

Ingredients

  • 1 Part PVA based Glue, such as Elmers
  • 3 Parts Water
  • ~1 Part Liquid Starch (Purex Sta-Flo Liquid Starch)
  • paint or pigment to color

Directions

  1. Mix 1 part glue with 3 parts of water and the coloring until it looks the way you want it to. Make sure it is mixed completely. You can change the amount of water to glue if you want, 1 to 1 will make the slime thick like Gak, and anything more than 4 to 1 will be too thin to polymerize.
  2. Slowly add 1 part of the liquid starch, and keep mixing (with hands work best) until it is the consistency you want; when everything polymerizes it will happen pretty quickly. You will be feeling it slowly thicken then it will all be slime, this is why it is so important to mix slowly. If it is too thick you can add more water, but do it slowly, it will take a while to mix more water in.
  3. After it is the consistency you like it is ready to use, I have never had an issue with clear, it washes up with water.

Notes

  • While this slime is safe for skin contact it burns like crazy if it gets in your eyes, Use goggles.
  • For glue, any PVA school glue works, if you want the slime to turn out dark it is recommended that you use clear glue, otherwise white glue works but it will make any pigment you use milky.
  • If you add too much starch, the slime will not sheet as much as tear, you can sometimes add water to get it back to being “drippy”.
  • It is essential to go slow when you make this, as it polymerizes, and it will take more time to get a reaction to the adjustments.
  • The advantage to this one if vs the borax is that you don’t need to make the solution and this seems to keep longer. I have used the same PVA mix for 5-6 sessions before having to throw it out. It has been stored for more than 6 months and has been okay (I had to add more starch to it). The big thing is if you plan to keep it, don’t cum in it, and shower before you start using it to keep the bacteria down.

Clean Up

The clean up is not bad but you will need a lot of water to thin it out. Do not pour it down the drain as is because it is glue.
