Super Absorbent Polymer

Sodium polyacrylate is a super absorbent polymers, it is a water-absorbing hydrohalic homopolymers meaning it can adsorb a very large amount of water compared to it’s mass. When added to water, sodium polyacrylate can absorb 300 times its own weight in liquid. When salt is added to the sodium polyacrylate after it has adsorbed when, the salt forces it to give up its water making clean up very easy. It most commonly used in diapers but the raw chemical is easy to find.

SAPs are not “gloopy” but they provide an interesting texture. Because of the low cost and ease of clean you, you can do things like adding it to a bathtub, feel it thicken around you, play, then send it down the drain after dissolving it with salt. If you add black pigment you can also make it look like peat.
